AEG conducts research and provides advisory services to businesses and affiliate organizations (e.g., economic development agencies, trade associations and franchises). These services are provided by its members, each of whom is an accomplished professional advisor. Advisor expertise includes consulting, governance, finance, law, banking, and wealth management. Many AEG advisors have started, built and transitioned companies themselves and, collectively, have advised hundreds of owners and executives, in most cases based on more than 20 years of experience.
AEG advisors are currently located, and serve AEG clients, in the Washington, DC region. AEG consists of 20-30 advisors, each of whom has undergone a rigorous selection process before being accepted. The requirements and application process are summarized below.
AEG advisors may become one of five types to participate in Council Activities:
- Business Advisor – Senior advisors with broad consulting and business performance experience across industries and disciplines. These individuals will conduct initial discovery with prospective clients and create advisory teams.
- Value Advisor – Experienced advisors with deep expertise in one or more areas, including law, finance, operations, executive coaching, banking or specialized types of businesses (e.g., international, family business, valuation).
- Associate Member – Vendor of services supportive of business operations, enterprise growth, personal wealth or transition, but not a professional advisor (e.g., diagnostic or analytical technology).
